Weekend stuff

Saturday karate was pretty good, although the warm-up included bunny hops, and damn if my legs aren't stiff now.  It's definately worked muscles that don't normally get such a hard workout, so that's all to the good.

On Saturday night, the friends who had looked after one of the cats while we were in Jordan were over.  I've not drunk that much in a long time, and I've certainly not seen 3.00am with a beer in my hand for a good few years.  I *may* have been a little tipsy.

On Sunday, we headed over to Cafe Byblos for lunch.  We'd forgotten that the West End Festival was on, so finding a parking space was fun, but soon we were in and having some really nice Lebanese food.
While we were having lunch we got a text from a friend asking if we fancied meeting up for a drink! So, an hour later, I was topping up from the night before.

I posted on FB about not being 20 any more, and got a real slagging from friends saying it did no harm now and again, and that I was sounding like a pensioner, and to get a grip :-)

So yeah, that was a fun weekend.

Crimbo do - the aftermath

And there I was thinking that not much had happened.  There was a couple of things I saw, but nothing major, but here's the breakdown from the corridor gossip the morning after the night before.

1 - lecturer in psycho mode.  After looking stressed/freaked out, a lecturer hides in a corner with a drink and starts looking angry.  After announcing he's leaving as "this is not my sort of place, I don't feel comfortable here" he's spotted at the bar with not one but two drinks.  Proceeds to get pished and have a good time.

2 - admin lassie absolutely blootered, staggering about with a drink in each hand telling anyone who will listen, about the "sleazy b*stards who keep groping her arse on the dancefloor.  She then proceeds to name them before falling over twice.  Once in the venue and once in the street.  Horribly hungover the next day, and eventually threw up.

3 - married academic caught snogging single admin girl who (rumour has it) is involved with another (married) academic

4 - lots of really bad dancing, which, due to the amount of booze sunk, the perp think is the best dancing ever done.  The highlight being one academic (do you see a thread here) dancing like a condemmed man who hasn't been strapped into the chain before they've turned the current on.

5 - possibly the weirdest one of the night. Male academic walking round in one of the admin girls' high heels.  This is not the first time he's pulled this particular party trick.  Is there something he's trying to tell us?

Anyway, that's it for another year.  Thank God.

There was an email today from the karate instructor asking who was planning on going this week and on what days. So, Friday is cancelled due to lack of people planning to attend, and next week is cancelled anyway, but I don't know why. The week after that I'm off on holiday for a week, so that's 3 weeks no karate apart from tomorrow !

I can't help thinking that we need fresh blood in the club to boost the numbers, there's only 6 of us plus the instructor. In a way it's good, because you can't hide in the crowd, mistakes get noticed and they get corrected, but, because it's such a small club, it only takes a couple of people to be unable to attend, and the attendees can't cover the cost of the hall, so it's cancelled.

I also have a problem with the fact that one particular person thinks 6.00pm on a Friday is "too late, why can't it be earlier?". 6.00pm is pretty early for an evening class if you ask me.

It's irritating me more than it should, as I've had an njury which has stopped me running but I've still been able to go to karate, except, it's being cancelled because people would rather go to the pub after work than go to karate. FFS! They could do the class and be in the pub for 7.30pm Are they THAT desperate for a drink?!
